Banana-Only Bags of Laffy Taffy Now Exist for a Limited Time

There are two types of people in this world: Those who love banana Laffy Taffy, and those who don’t. If you’re on Team Banana, we’ve got good news—Laffy Taffy has launched limited edition banana-only bags, and you can get one for as little as $1.

If you follow comedian Joel McHale on Instagram, you may have noticed three recent Laffy Taffy-related posts on his feed. On March 20, he posted a photo of himself lying in a pile of Laffy Taffy candy that was noticeably free of the banana flavor. “Well, this is officially the worst thing to ever happen to me or anybody else,” he captioned the photo. “I got myself a pile of @LaffyTaffy and there is NOT ONE BANANA FLAVOR. Why me?”

A post on March 27 showed a contemplative McHale sitting in front of a mirror, which had the word “banana” written all over it in various spellings. He was holding pink and blue Laffy Taffy. “How long have I been blind to the reality that Banana @laffytaffy is no more?” he wrote. “Perhaps it never existed! Is this madness? Or am I finally awake for the first time in my life? Yeah. It’s probably madness, but still WHERE IS MY BANANA FLAVOR?!”

Finally, revealing it was all an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank, he posted a selfie of himself covered in Banana-Only Laffy Taffy bags, writing, “Your cards, letters, and thinly veiled threats have worked (I assume.) Banana @LaffyTaffy is back (it actually never left) and is now available in special ALL-BANANA ‘Gone Bananas’ packs (you’re welcome.)”

Yes, McHale was sponsored by Laffy Taffy the whole time (how do we get that gig?), and was enlisted to trick the world into thinking the banana flavor was discontinued to make the release of the Banana-Only bags even more exciting.

We built a light-hearted prank surrounding this key insight and had some fun with fans along the way.”
