The Bakery at Sullivan University to reopen on Bardstown Road. Here's what to know.

The Bakery at Sullivan University is reopening after closing in February 2020, though no official opening date has been set.

The Bakery will reopen in its old space across from Sullivan University's main campus at 3100 Bardstown Road, according to Emily Kunkel, the marketing manager for Sullivan University. Kunkel said chefs Ann Currie and Teeylah Webster will operate the bakery.

Currie, who works within the university's Hospitality Studies Program, will serve as the front-of-house and general manager of The Bakery, while Webster will work as the pastry chef and production manager, Kunkel told the Courier Journal via email. Both are graduates of Sullivan University.

Kunkel said The Bakery highlights the resilience and passion of the culinary community.

"For years, The Bakery has been instrumental in bringing together the Louisville Metro community, and we are grateful for the immense love and support we've been fortunate to receive," Kunkel said. "The Bakery is proof of Sullivan University's dedication to career-oriented education and our community."

The Bakery will feature both a new visual aesthetic and menu highlighting breads, pastries, light sweets, and an array of hot and iced beverages, Kunkel told the Courier Journal.

"Imagine The Bakery as a collaboration between the timeless artistry of Old-World European bakers and modern-day culinary inspiration," she said. "Our vision for The Bakery is to be where people can briefly escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, and take the opportunity to stop, breathe, and enjoy local, fresh-baked goods with an iced or hot beverage."

Kunkel said more information about The Bakery's official reopening date will be released at a later time.
