The concert begins with the debut of The Catherine M. Urner Composer Discovery Project, featuring the winning composition by Bakersfield’s Dr. Doug Davis: Dust Swirls.

World-renowned guest pianist Roman Rabinovich will also join the orchestra for a performance of Prokofiev’s thrilling Piano Concerto No. 3.

Saturday’s show will be a full-circle moment for Kirov as he will perform a familiar piece.

“We will finish the program with the Scheherazade. Actually, the first piece I conducted here in Bakersfield, when I auditioned for the music director position.”
