Nick Viall's experience on 'The Bachelor' franchise was a roller coaster ride. He has appeared on 'The Bachelor,' 'The Bachelorette,' and 'Bachelor in Paradise.' Despite numerous attempts, Viall always ended up single.
The closest he got to a wedding was on his season of 'The Bachelor.' He left the show [engaged to Vanessa Grimaldi.] (https://www.instagram.com/p/BVio8DPFmtZ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) She recently claimed that despite telling him she wanted to postpone the engagement, he insisted they get engaged on the show. He initially brushed off the claims.
Now Viall's speaking out and saying that he wasn't the only one with problems in the relationship.
“When I ended up with Vanessa she, for different reasons, she didn’t get along with Rachel and Raven. But I guess we didn’t last as long because I suddenly was like ‘I’m sorry, I’m not gonna like–that’s an insane point of view.’ I would try to defend her. I would definitely not defend her the way she wanted me to defend her,” he [explained to Kaitlyn Bristowe] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVtG5i9VJLY) on his podcast 'The Viall Files.'
“And that was, quite honestly, one of our biggest problems early on that we fought very much so where it was like, ‘Why don’t you have my back?’ and like I do but this is an insane argument.”
The feud went down behind-the-scenes of Nick's season of 'The Bachelor.' While it took a while for the news to come out, Rachel addressed it in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“Vanessa told me that I used ‘aggressive’ tones with her, and I was very upset by that,” Lindsay said. “There are so many stereotypes placed on African-American women.”
While, according to People, Rachel and Vanessa have made amends, Vanessa and Nick's relationship wasn't able to be salvaged.
“Like with Vanessa I was trying so hard to protect this relationship but I had certain things where I was like ‘This isn’t OK. I’m not OK with this. And I can’t, in good conscience, agree to do this because it’s not healthy.’ But where do you draw the line?” he asked, according to Showbix Cheat Sheet, while venting to Kaitlyn Bristowe.
Viall was on Kaitlyn's season of 'The Bachelorette.' She explained how hard it was to watch him and Shawn feud.
“You also realize that you had these relationships with other people and you can’t deny that. It was there and we had that and everybody saw it. Like I get it, it must be hard for the other person but at the end of the day you have a choice and I chose him and he chose me and then he chose to focus on you [Nick Viall],” she said.
