'The Bachelorette' finale recap: Tayshia gets a proposal; does she say yes?

We're finally at the end of the pandemic season of "The Bachelorette." And that means a pandemic proposal might be in store – but will Tayshia say yes?

We pick up where Monday's episode left off, as Tayshia takes some breathing room after Ben's surprise return.

"I really care about Ben, but I sent him home for a reason," Tayshia says.

She goes back to him and the pair resumes the conversation on the couch in her suite. He reiterates he's in love with her. She wants to know why he didn't tell her that earlier, and he says he was scared – but also confident he'd progress to the next week. Don't count your roses before they hatch, or something.

Tayshia allows Ben to come to the rose ceremony, but it's unclear what she'll decide. Their attraction endures: "I just kissed him! Why would I kiss him?" she says, toying with both Ben's (and our) emotions.

When Ben arrives at the rose ceremony, he clues in Ivan and Zac about Tayshia's invitation. With two roses at play, whom will she send home?

Tayshia explains to the men that her relationship with Brendan didn't work out, and she's been praying for clarity on what to do.

She asks Ivan if they can go talk – which doesn't sound good. Apparently, their values don't align when it comes to religion, which is important to her. It's enough of a red flag to send him home.

"You don't just fall out of love overnight," Ivan says. He doesn't think she's going to pick anybody.

For now, though, she gives roses to Zac and Ben, which means each will get the chance to meet Tayshia's family.

Tayshia's family meets Ben and Zac

Tayshia explains to her family – including her mother, Rosario, and father Desmond – that she sent Ben home and let him come back. Desmond is skeptical of the relationship before he gets the chance to meet him.

When Ben arrives, the family toasts to second chances.

Desmond doesn't want her to work so hard to get someone on the same page as her. Ben gushes about Tayshia to Rosario. "This is a forever thing," he says. He tells both parents that he's in love with Tayshia. Desmond's skepticism wanes and Tayshia says she started to fall in love with him all over again. Good job, Ben.

Next, it's Zac's turn. He tells Rosario that five years from now, he sees he and Tayshia happily married and starting a family.

Zac talks with Desmond about his past marriage. Zac says that life is not always easy but supporting each other through tough times is what he's looking forward to with Tayshia. Desmond thinks Zac is a good man and appreciates how he put him at ease. They eat pizza together, which makes us hungry.

Tayshia has a tough choice ahead of her.

'I feel like I know what my heart wants'

Desmond returns later to chat with Tayshia.

The family doesn't want her to make a mistake; remember, they've seen her go through a divorce, and her dad is worried because he's seen her hurt before. "It might not be what you want to hear, but I don't want you to be making the biggest mistake of your life," he says.

Gulp.

She knows he meant well – but now she's overwhelmed. Tayshia goes on one last date with Zac, where they recap meeting her family. She tells him she's stressed, although he assures her that he's ready. He feels her trepidation – something that carries over when they take a wedding dance lesson. He does a good job trying to distract her.

Later, Tayshia expresses concerns to Zac about her fears for their future and the potential growing pains in their relationship. Zac explains that part of his sobriety involves him actively not running away, and this day is his ninth anniversary of being sober. "If I were given the opportunity to propose to you, I am not doing that unless I am committing to you," he says. Swoon.

Next up is a date with Ben ... or maybe not?

"I feel like I know what my heart wants, and I know that it's not Ben."

She says she cares about him so much but feels like her heart is with someone else. She doesn't want him to second-guess anything, ever, and she gave him the rose the other night because she wanted to give them another chance.

He's still in love with her, but "when you love somebody, you want them to be happy." Our hearts are broken. We feel for you, Ben.

Zac proposes to Tayshia ... does she say yes?

Here we go, folks. "I can honestly say wholeheartedly that Zac is my person," Tayshia says on proposal day.

It's all happening – "Bachelor" franchise jeweler Neil Lane stops by to help Zac choose a ring – but Tayshia is still scared, and wonders if it's all too much too soon.

"Nothing has ever felt so right in my entire life," Zac tells Tayshia before sharing all the reasons he loves her, including that she's a strong, independent woman.

"I know that I told you that I love you, but – sorry – it's more than that," Tayshia says, briefly scaring us into thinking she was going break up with him.

He gets down on one knee and proposes, and we're reduced to a puddle of tears when Tayshia says yes. Tayshia also pins the final rose on Zac as a formality.

They "drive off" in that same faux New York taxi from their hometown date with a "just engaged" sign on the back.
