‘The Bachelorette’ Finale: Charity Lawson And Dotun Olubeko Make History

Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko made history as the first engaged monoracial couple on ABC’s “The Bachelorette.” The series’ posted Lawson’s fairytale on Instagram. Olubeko proposed to Lawson, and she said, “yes.”

Fans witnessed Olubeko get down on one knee and propose to Lawson with a stunning Neil Lane diamond ring.

“Charity Lawson, will you marry me?” he asked.

She happily responded, “A million times, yes!”

The Couple’s impact

Viewers could not be happier as they celebrated the first Black couple on the show.

‘The Bachelorette’ Season Finale

Lawson and Olubeko instantly hit it off on the 20th season of “The Bachelorette.” Therefore, it was no surprise to fans that she chose him in the end.

In the finale, Olubeko confessed his love for Lawson before proposing.

“Charity, there is so much that we’ve experienced, from our very first kiss at the mansion, where I was like, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m going for it,’ all the way to conquering our fear of 200 feet in the air, running through New Orleans, and most importantly falling in love. You have been able to make me feel so incredibly special,” said an emotional Olubeko.

He continued, “You have made me feel adored, validated, and wanted, and to receive that from a woman of your caliber, Charity, I don’t think you’ll ever understand what that means to me. I am certain that I want to spend the rest of my life showing you 100%.”

Lawson shared the same sentiments as her love.

“I’ve always said that being here and being along this journey has taught me that one conversation can change everything. When I think of that moment and when I think of you, it takes me back to Oceanside when we shared that incredibly special moment that changed my life, truly, forever,” she told her fiancé-to-be.

“So Dotun, when I stand here in this moment, I want a forever future with you. I see you as my husband, I see you as my future, I see it so clear. I don’t have any doubts. I don’t question it. I love you so much, she added.”

What’s Next for Charity Lawson?

During a sit-down interview with Jesse Palmer, Olubeko told his fiancé that one of her dreams would be coming true.

“CYMI, your Bachelorette is heading to the ballroom.” the caption read.

Lawson is headed for “Dancing with The Stars” this fall. An excited Lawson was speechless by the news.
