Season 18 of The Bachelorette premiered Monday, featuring Michelle Young as the woman searching for Mr. Right. While Young was introduced to several promising suitors, the sleuthing skills of former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe revealed that one particular cast member was a little too good to be true.

Adams and Bristowe were snooping around Ryan Fox’s room when they found a folder labeled “Bachlorette” — and YES, he did indeed misspell the name of the show he had extensive notes on. Inside the folder were pages of strategies and notes concerning how to act. It included everything from how to seem interested, to common phrases that are frequently quoted and featured on the show.

Adams and Bristow informed Young about the playbook. Young confronted Fox, but both she and viewers at home found his explanation to appear genuine.

“Those were not notes written by me,” Fox explained. “Those were notes written by my friend's wife who watches The Bachelor. I haven't seen the show more than two hours, to be perfectly honest. I wrote notes on the way [when] I came here just so I can get an idea.”

Former cast members whose names appeared in the notes found it unsettling. Jason Tartick and Mike Johnson both responded on Twitter after seeing their names highlighted in the notes

Fox’s contradictory defense prompted Young to visit his room and read the notes for herself. She was visibly unnerved by what she read and asked Fox to exit the show.

“I am not OK with starting a relationship on red flags,” Young said. “You'll need to respect that I am going to choose to listen to my red flags. And so, unfortunately, I will be walking you out.”

The Bachelorette airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
