'The Bachelor:' What Really Happened the Night Peter Met Contestant Kelley Before Filming
Peter Weber's season of 'The Bachelor' is already off to a dramatic start. One contestant that is gaining plenty of attention early on is Kelley Flanagan. Kelley revealed that she had run into Peter before the show started filming yet after she knew she'd be a contestant on the show. However, according to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, their first meeting may have been a little longer than a "run in." While in the past, bachelors and bachelorettes weren't impressed by the people they had met previously, Kelley seems to be a special case.
Peter had given Kelley the first impression rose on the night that the ladies arrived at the mansion. This may be proof that the impression she made on their first chance encounter was lasting. Kelley was attending a wedding and Peter was at a high school reunion party when they ran into each other at the same hotel.
“We had spent an hour talking when I had met her the first time and it just felt really comfortable and easy, good chemistry, got along well,” Peter told Entertainment Tonight of the night he met Kelley.
Kelley and Peter spent a whole hour chatting giving Kelley a big leg up in the competition. And it shows.
Peter was also stoked when the producers planned a group date in the same hotel where he and Kelley met.
“We’re at the exact place where I just randomly ran into Kelley coming from an after party from a high school reunion. She was coming back from a wedding,” he said during the date before recreating the moment with Kelley during their one-on-one time.
Kelley revealed on the show that she was hesitant about coming on before that moment.
“I’m really excited that Peter’s the bachelor because I’ve met Peter,” Kelley said during her intro segment. “I was in California for one of my best friend’s weddings and saw Peter in the lobby. I guess he was there for his 10-year reunion.”
“It’s hard to not look at that situation and think that wasn’t a major sign being sent to me like, ‘Hey, you should really do this.’ And who knows? Maybe at the end of it I’ll be engaged,” she continued.
After Kelley won the group date, she revealed how her relationship with Peter might lead to drama.
“I don’t think I am the girls’ favorite right now,” Kelley told the camera. “A lot of them were upset that I cheated and didn’t do the full course. Plus a couple of the girls probably don’t like the fact that I’ve met Peter before and so I feel like I have a bunch of targets on my back. It’s good that they don’t know that we’re actually at the hotel that me and Peter met at.”
