“We decided to get married this morning at the New York Courthouse,” the newlyweds announced via YouTube on Thursday, October 27.
The twosome revealed that they will have a full wedding ceremony “next year around September because who doesn’t want to get married twice!”
The couple, who met on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise in summer 2021, shared a video with their fans of the courthouse nuptials. In the clip, Pitt, 25, couldn’t stop giggling as she held onto Amabile’s hands while an officiant asked them to exchange vows.
The Canada native wore black, leather pants and boots with a white, long-sleeved shirt as she said “I do.” The Bachelorette alum, 36, donned black pants, white sneakers and a navy sweater as he agreed to marry Pitt. The lovebirds proceeded to kiss and embrace after they were declared legally married.
"We have always known marriage was in our future, it just looked a little bit different than we expected," the duo said in a joint statement to Us Weekly on Thursday. "We still plan on having a big wedding next fall that we are already planning, but with everything being so public in our relationship, having a private moment just the two of us felt so special and intimate."
The ABC personalities shared that fellow Bachelor Nation star Natasha Parker was their witness when they became man and wife. "[She is] someone that has seen our relationship from the very beginning,” they continued.
Pitt and Amabile concluded: "We can't wait to celebrate with all of our family and friends next year at our wedding, because who doesn't want to marry the love of their life twice?"
Parker, for her part, joked about her uncontrollable excitement that was overheard in the video. "Sorry for squealing,” the 34-year-old reality star commented on the clip.
The courthouse union came two days after Pitt celebrated her 25th birthday with a night out with Amabile. “Happy birthday baby ♥️,” the Sundays With Joe founder captioned an Instagram video of his love blowing out her candle at dinner on Tuesday, October 25.
Amabile, affectionately known as Grocery Store Joe, made his Bachelorette debut in 2018 while vying for Becca Kufrin’s heart. While he was eliminated during week one, he gave love another shot on season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise. During his first stint on the spinoff series, Amabile started dating Kendall Long. The pair split in January 2020.
The “Click Bait” podcast cohost went on BiP for a second time in 2021, which is when he met season 25 Bachelor alum Pitt. The pair’s relationship was tested when Long, 31, returned to the beach and revealed she still had feelings for Amabile. However, Long exited the show when she realized the connection between the former grocer and the Wilfrid Laurier University alum. Amabile and Pitt later got engaged during the season finale.
