"The Golden Bachelor" isn't the only Iowan in the franchise family.

"Bachelor in Paradise" returned Thursday and Bloomfield native Mercedes Northup, who appeared on the latest season of "The Bachelor" starring Zach Shallcross, made her way to the beach.

"They're gonna fall in love with a girl from Iowa, yeehaw!" Northup said during her reintroduction.

Sparks flew between Northup and a past suitor from her close friend Charity Lawson's season of "The Bachelorette." But one thing is for sure: the spinoff star still loves Iowa.

"I grew up on a farm and I need a man who can do all types of life with me," she said in part.

Northup added that she wanted a man who was manly and could farm with her dad. Northup, who is 25, attended Iowa State University in Ames and later moved to Nashville. During Shallcross' season of "The Bachelor," the sole Iowan served as the show's unofficial narrator.

Some things never change: She plays the same role in paradise.

Five things Mercedes said out of context

  1. "I have no clue who that is."

  2. "Who're you going to pick?"

  3. "He's been staring at you!"

  4. "Now you got me."

  5. "I want someone manly who can throw me around."

Winners, losers and what's to come with Mercedes on the beach

Winner of the week: Love triangles

Loser of the week: People who hate watching Iowans on TV

Spoiler alert: Mercedes cringing at *something*

What's to come: Kissing, more Bachelorettes and so much drama to come
