Baby Pulled Alive From Rubble 26 Hours After Jordan Building Collapse
A four-month-old girl was rescued alive from the rubble of a collapsed residential building in the Jordanian capital of Amman on Wednesday, September 14, around 26 hours after rescue crews responded and began searching for victims, authorities said.
At least 14 people died and 10 were injured in the collapse, which happened on Tuesday in Amman’s Jabal al-Weibdeh district, officials said.
According to the Jordan Civil Defense, the baby, Malak, was found “sleeping peacefully” in her pram under layers of rubble. Once she was lifted out, she began crying, prompting joy and tears of relief among people at the scene, they said. Several other people were also saved from under the debris.
