A baby boy from Montana was killed just one day before his first birthday after his father fell on the child after being fatally shot.

Police said Tatee’K Morrison and his 31-year-old father Kenneth Morrison were inside a home in Billings when suspects in a pick-up truck drove up and fired multiple rounds and left the area at a high rate of speed.

Police officers responded to the shooting at about 10 a.m. on Nov. 1 and found about 25 shell casings of two different calibers in the street.

“There was no answer when [officers] knocked on the door,” said Chief Rich St. John at a press conference last week. “Officers began looking in windows and they saw a dog that had been shot and was down.”

Officers forced their way into the residence and found Kenneth Morrison dead on the floor.

“Under the deceased, officers found a one-year-old male who was unresponsive,” said St. John. “It appears the adult collapsed from his wounds and fell on the child.”

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he died.

After the shooting, officers took several people into custody, but no arrests related to the shooting have been made.

"You don’t think that those things would happen, but so much violence has happened lately," Tatee’k's uncle Zack Wilson told KTVQ. "Gun violence here in Billings is getting a little scary."

Wilson said Tatee’k would have celebrated his first birthday on Thursday.

"We just want to celebrate his life and wish him a happy birthday. And we love you,” he said, KTVQ reported. "Just know that we all love you and we miss you already."
