B.G. Reportedly To Be Released From Prison This Week

B.G. is reportedly soon being released from prison after serving more than a decade behind bars.

According to The Jasmine Brand, the rapper is set to be released from prison for his “probationary period” and could be home as soon as this week. Born Christopher Dorsey, B.G. was arrested in 2009 following a traffic stop in New Orleans, during which authorities found three guns, two of which were stolen.

In 2011, the rapper pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, receiving a 14-year federal prison sentence the following year, with three years of federal supervised release.

The Hot Boys member had previously attempted to gain compassionate release from prison during the COVID-19 pandemic, but was denied three times. According to U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan, she “did not find any gross neglect that affected the outcome” of the 42-year-old’s motion.

Birdman also penned a letter in an attempt to convince the judge that B.G. could have a positive impact on society and had been rehabilitated during his prison term. “He is not only a generational artist, but he’s got a platform and the chance to share his experience to better today’s young men who need to hear what he’s got to say,” the Cash Money Records founder wrote. “When he is released, I know he will give back and use what he’s gone through to help as many people as possible.”

Last year, upon false rumors of B.G.’s release from prison, Gucci Mane offered the rapper a $1 million deal to sign with his label, 1017 Records. “My 1017 family help me welcome home the living legend @BGHollyHood!” Guwop wrote in the now-deleted tweet. “Glad u home bruh! Got so much love and respect for u as a man an artist! Get at me, I got a milli for u! Wanna sign u to 1017!!!!”

One of the breakout stars of Cash Money Records during the ’90s, B.G. helped bring the label to prominence with his solo work, as well as a member of the Hot Boys, which released the platinum-certified album Guerilla Warfare in 1999. He has released over one dozen solo and collaborative albums over the course of his career, his most recent being 225504 with Lil Boosie.
