Ayo Edebiri and Paul Mescal's future may include starring in a rom-com together.

Romance novelist Emily Henry spoke with Variety and said that the actors—who recently went viral after posing for an Instagram photo together, sparking dating rumors — would be a good fit for a film adaptation of one of her novels.

"I think that they would be amazing. I actually saw them being discussed [online] for several different roles — and I definitely have a favorite," Henry told the outlet.

While scripts for film adaptations of Henry's Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation and Book Lovers, are currently being worked on, the author said she "can’t confirm or deny anything about the casting for any of the movies.

"I will say that those are two of my favorite ' Irish' actors," Henry added.

The novelist was among the many fans who celebrated the actor's joint St. Patrick’s Day selfie by sharing it on her Instagram story. A source later told PEOPLE that the two are "just friends."

Henry told Variety she would love to have Edebiri and Mescal, both 28, included in the films in any capacity.

"Different adaptations would either have one of them playing to type, or one of those adaptations would have them both playing to type, and one of them would have them both playing against type. It’s an interesting thing. I mean, they’re great, they could do anything," said Henry.

One thing Henry guarantees is that each upcoming film adaptation will be directed by someone who has her fans' best interests at heart.

Edebiri is currently working on season 3 of The Bear, which is expected to premiere sometime in June.
