The Curry’s are not only respected as “couple goals,” but also in the Hip-Hop space. Steph, who has been mentioned in “over 106 songs,” is now up against his wife Ayesha, who’s also getting named dropped.

While appearing on an episode of Watch What Happens Live on Monday (Mar. 11), Mrs. Curry responded to a lyric in Drake’s 2021 song, “Race My Mind,” where he shows appreciation for her as a wife. The Certified Lover Boy line in question goes: “How I’m supposed to wife it?/ You not Ayesha enough.”

“I think I was dumbfounded,” she recalled. “I just – it’s one of those things. But that’s our family, so I think I was appreciative that they respect me so much that they think I’m a great wife. So I was appreciative.”

Steph, who’s currently expecting baby No. 4 with Ayesha, also shared a reaction to hearing his name in one of 2023’s most popular songs: “Skee Yee” by Sexyy Red.

While speaking with VIBE, the four-time NBA champion shared that his first reaction to hearing the St. Louis star drop his name, was to laugh.

“When Sexxy Red did it, I just started laughing,” he recalled. “I don’t know. I had never seen her at a basketball game.” The line he’s referring to is: “My sister in the backseat with a .30/ Ni**as tryna shoot they shot, Stephen Curry.”

Drake, too, has mentioned the NBA all-star plenty of times.

“I started thinking about all the ones that I could remember and it’s either a nickname, like Drake did with ‘Chef Curry with the Pot,’ or I think Future dropped one in the song ‘Mad Max,’” he continued. “And it’s funny to see how they rhyme it because either they do a nickname, the short name, they use number 30 or they just go with the whole full name and just try to write something.”

Of all “106” songs and counting that have mentioned his moniker, he admitted that Drake’s name-dropping “for sure is my favorite.” He also added Cardi B’s infamous line from “Be Careful” saying, “I think it was the me and Ayesha reference. She’s like, ‘I want to get married like Steph and Ayesha, but we more like Belly; Tommy and Keisha.’”

Curious to see how many other songs have mentioned his name, he shared the time that one of his teammates did some research on music’s fascination with referencing him.

“It’s funny because I actually was asking the question– no, one of my teammates were asking me the question, ‘How many times do you think your name’s been mentioned in the song?’” He recalled. “And I was like, ‘I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure there’s probably a website or something that could probably count it for you.’ So he went and looked it up and it was like 106 I think at the time, which was wild to me.”
