The awesome reason why 'NSync reunited on 'It's Gonna Be May' Day

The last day of April is always special for ‘NSync fans, thanks to the classic “It’s Gonna Be May” meme. But this year was even better, as the fab five reassembled to accept a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

All five members of the boy band, including Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and, yep, Justin Timberlake, were on hand. Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and Carson Daly, who championed the boy band on MTV’s popular countdown show, TRL, supported the “Bye Bye Bye” crooners.

‘NSync — who announced a hiatus in 2002 that’s never really ended and is unlikely to now that Timberlake is a bonafide superstar on his own — have a star located near the one awarded to the Backstreet Boys, as well as the ones for fellow boy bands New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men

Jessica Biel, Timberlake’s wife, was in the audience to cheer on her husband, as were the families of the other band members. Timberlake made sure to give her a shout-out during his time at the podium.

“And now to my beautiful wife, who’s here today and who’s now the mother of our beautiful son, I love you so much,” Timberlake said of Biel and 3-year-old Silas.

There was no shortage of fans there to support the guys either. People began lining up for the appearance at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, forming a line that went around the block by the time the ceremony started, according to Entertainment Tonight. No surprise, the female-heavy crowd rocked band merchandise mostly from their popular 2000 “No Strings Attached” tour. They also had a chance to snap up more merch at the new ‘NSync pop-up store.

Of course, even with all the excitement, there was a nod to the internet joke inspired by the exaggerated way Timberlake used to sing, “It’s gonna be me,” that surfaces each year on April 30. Chasez took a moment of his time at the podium to say, “In case you’ve forgotten, tomorrow, it’s gonna be May!”

But who could ever forget that?
