Award-winning author Ann Patchett to speak in Kentucky. Here's where to see her

Book lovers, get ready. The Kentucky Author Forum is bringing Ann Patchett to Louisville.

Patchett is the author of nine novels, four books of nonfiction and one children’s book and has won numerous awards, including a National Humanities Medal, England’s Women’s Prize, the PEN/Faulkner Award, the Book Sense Book of the Year, the Women’s National Book Association’s Award and more.

Patchett's latest book, "Tom Lake," probes many aspects of love "from the turbulence of youthful passion to the contentment of marriage to the welcome embrace of family when the outside world falls apart," according to its description. She will be interviewed by fellow author Kevin Wilson on Feb. 12 at the Kentucky Center for the Arts Bomhard Theater, 501 W. Main St.

In November 2011, Patchett opened Parnassus Books in Nashville, Tennessee, and has since become a spokesperson for independent booksellers, championing books and bookstores during various national appearances. Along with James Patterson, she was the honorary chair of World Book Night. In 2012, she was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Wilson's book "Nothing to See Here," was a New York Times bestseller. He is an Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of the South.

University of Louisville Kentucky Author Forum with Ann Patchett

WHAT: Ann Patchett will be a part of The University of Louisville’s first Kentucky Author Forum of 2024 along with Kevin Wilson.

WHERE: Kentucky Center Bomhard Theater and North Lobby (live stream), 501 W. Main St.

WHEN: Feb. 12

  • 5 p.m.: Wine and cheese reception, Carmichael’s Bookstore pre-signed book sale in the lobby

  • 6 p.m.: Discussion with Patchett and Wilson in the Bomhard Theater

  • 7 p.m.: Q&A with audience in Bomhard Theater and live-streamed to the North Lobby

  • 7:30 p.m.: Dinner in honor of Patchett and Wilson at Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. 6th St.

COST: Bomhard Theater tickets are sold out. The forum will be live-streamed to the North Lobby for $17.50, which includes all evening events before 7:30 p.m.; $147.50 North Lobby live-stream includes all events, plus dinner ($40 tax-deductible contribution to non-profit Kentucky Author Forum). Discounted tickets for University of Louisville students, faculty, and staff may be purchased in person with UofL ID at The Kentucky Center drive-thru service.
