'Avengers,' 'WandaVision' actor Paul Bettany to headline MegaCon 2024 in Orlando

"My co-pilot is Jarvis."

Fans of Marvel's "Iron Man" or "Avengers" films may recognize that line (or character). The man who gained international fame for portraying Jarvis, which stands for "just a rather very intelligent system," is coming to Orlando for MegaCon.

Paul Bettany ("Wimbledon," "Solo: A Star Wars Story") will headline MegaCon 2024 in February. He's best known for providing the voice of Jarvis for Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for many years before transitioning to Vision in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." He played the character in "Captain America: Civil War," "The Avengers: Infinity War" and "The Avengers: Endgame." Bettany also brought Vision to the small screen in "WandaVision," one of the original Disney+ series when the streaming service first launched. "WandaVision" co-stars Elizabeth Olsen as his wife Wanda/Scarlet Witch.

Fun fact: Bettany's real-life wife, Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Connelly ("A Beautiful Mind," "Maverick" and "Labyrinth") voiced Karen, the helpful AI assistant to Peter Parker/Spider-man (Tom Holland) in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," a nod to Bettany's voice portrayal of Jarvis.

What is MegaCon?

A super festival that celebrates all things “fandom,” from science fiction to comics to anime to gaming and cosplay. Organizers describe MegaCon as "four days of fun-filled fan culture," drawing at least 160,000 people over the weekend − along with some of the biggest names in the comic con universe.

The mega convention features celebrity Q&As, photo ops, meet-and-greets, autograph sessions, cosplay, merchandise, anime groups, gaming, shopping and kids play zone.

Past headliners of MegaCon include Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill ("Star Wars" trilogy, the original and the J.J. Abrams versions); William Shatner and George Takei ("Star Trek"); Zachary Levi ("Shazam" and Flynn Rider from Disney's "Tangled"); James McAvoy (a young Professor X in "X-Men: First Class"); Hayden Christensen (a young Annakin Skywalker in the "Star Wars" trilogy with Natalie Portman); Chevy Chase ("Three Amigos," "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"); Academy Award winner Brendan Fraser ("The Whale," "George of the Jungle" and "The Mummy" films); Elijah Wood (Frodo in "The Lord of the Rings" films), Jason Momoa ("Aquaman," "Fast and Furious 7" and "Justice League"); Nathan Fillion ("Firefly," "Castle" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and James Marsters (Spike from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel").

Advanced tickets are available until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024.

• Single-day tickets for adults ages 18 and up start at $25 in advance or $30 after Jan. 17 and range up to $58 in advance or $68 full price. For teens ages 13 to 17, single-day tickets start at $20 in advance or $25 after Jan. 17 and range up to $48 in advance or $58 full price. For kids ages 6 to 12, single-day tickets are $15. Some family passes (two adults and up to four children) are available and start at $55 for single-day in advance or $65 after Jan. 17 and range up to $101 in advance or $121 full price. This includes admission and a souvenir badge.

• A four-day pass starts at $119 in advance or $139 after Jan. 17. It includes admission and a souvenir badge along with access to a special preview at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1.

• An "ultimate fan" package costs $159 in advance or $179 at full price after Jan. 17. This includes admission, limited edition MegaCon Orlando souvenir badge, access to the special preview at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1; celebrity photo op; limited edition MegaCon Orlando bag, comic book, collectible and lithograph; 10% coupon off MegaCon Orlando store; and a free single-day general admission (excluding Saturdays) at "future Fan Expo HQ events until but not including MegaCon Orlando 2025."

• According to the site, VIP packages for $549 are sold out. They include admission, MegaCon Orlando VIP badge, priority entrance, "bring a friend for free on Thursday," access to the special preview at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1; early admission to the show floor on Friday through Sunday, Feb. 2-4; VIP lounge access; celebrity autograph and photo ops; lanyard, T-shirt, bag, limited edition collectible, lithograph; 20% off coupon at MegaCon Orlando Store; and a free general admission to "future Fan Expo HQ events until but not including MegaCon Orlando 2025."

Are costumes allowed at MegaCon Orlando?

Costumes are encouraged at MegaCon in Orlando − let your creativity shine. Weapons are not allowed, and some toy weapons or cosplay weapons may not be cleared through security. Costumes aren't required at MegaCon. The event is a perfect opportunity for people-watching, Instagram photos, TikTok lives and YouTube Shorts. Most cosplayers will gladly pose.
