The movie hit the digital market on March 28, 2023, more than 90 days after its theatrical release on December 16, 2022. The lengthy delay has no doubt allowed producers to maximize the digital release — which came with plenty of bonus content — earnings.
Usually, Disney Plus subscribers can watch their favorite movies roughly 90 days after their theatrical release. With the Avatar sequel, producers took a different route, making it the longest release in the streamer’s history.

Additional cast members include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, and more.
The movie grossed over $2.3 billion at the box office, one of the biggest successes in movie history. Fans can expect more Avatar movies in the future, with Avatar 3 already having a tentative release date on December 20, 2024, Avatar 4 set for December 18, 2026, and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028.
