The highly anticipated live-action series adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon is set to drop in late February.

The Water, Earth, Fire, and Air Nations will officially converge early next year.

At long last, Netflix has revealed the first trailer for its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, direct from this week's virtual Geeked Week event. With the grand unveiling comes not only a first look at more characters making the leap from animation, but also a long-sought Feb. 22 premiere date.

Following reveals for live-action Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), Sokka (Ian Ousley), Prince Zuko (Dallas James Liu), Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim), Uncle Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee), Princess Azula (Elizabeth Yu), and Commander Zhao (Ken Leung), the trailer now shows Appa, the cuddly yet giant air bison and the Avatar's trusted flying mount. We also get peeks at Aang's other animal companion Momo, as well as Suki (Maria Zhang) and the Kyoshi Warriors.

"Time is a funny thing," a voice intones in the footage. "The past, the future, it all gets mixed up. There's only one way to keep it straight. Always remember who you are."

Headed by showrunner Albert Kim, Avatar: The Last Airbender will adapt the main events of the animated show, which launched on Nickelodeon in 2005 and spawned spinoff series The Legend of Korra, comic books, video games, one massively derided live-action movie from M. Night Shyamalan, and now multiple new animated projects in the works.

The show is set in a medieval fantasy world full of benders, those who can manipulate one of the elements: earth, air, fire, and water. The Avatar, a reincarnated being with a mastery of all four elements, maintains peace and balance in the world. But the latest reincarnation, the young airbender named Aang, emerges at a time when Fire Lord Ozai used his armies to wipe out the Air Nomads and is deep into a campaign for world domination. Now Aang, with the help of his friends, must set out to master all the elements and become strong enough to restore balance.

The footage provides hints at classic moments from the animated series brought to life in this new adaptation. We see Sozin's Comet shooting across the sky; the famed Earth Kingdom city of Omashu; Katara and Sokka's discovery of Aang, who's been asleep inside a block of ice; firebending in action; and
