Ava Dash is introducing herself to the world in a new campaign with BCBGMAXAZRIA.

Modeling glam clothes for the holidays — including sparkly dresses perfect for your Christmas parties and luxe sweaters for a cozy night with friends — Dash stars in the photo shoot that means so much to her.

The holiday shoot is the first major campaign for the model, 23, who tells PEOPLE she’s finally mentally and physically ready for the big moment. “I had been preparing for a long time,” Dash says. "This is my time to shine."

If you want to call Dash a “nepo baby,” it wouldn’t offend her. The model is the daughter of entrepreneur and record executive Damon Dash and designer Rachel Roy, who she says prepared her for working in the fashion industry.

“She’s always told me, trust in yourself,” Dash tells PEOPLE. “Be confident in yourself. If you’re not comfortable, walk away. You’re better than that and you know your self-worth.”

The model says it can be hard to maintain a sense of self-worth during a time when women often get cosmetic procedures to fit a certain look. While she won't fault any woman's choice for it, it's not something she wants for herself — and that decision brings her confidence.

“This is me, this is how I was born,” Dash says. “This is how I look, this is how I’m gonna look forever. Nothing’s changing.”

The new BCBGMAXAZRIA campaign is also a cool full-circle moment for Dash and her family — Roy’s first job was as a sales associate for BCBG. It helped her cut her teeth in fashion and Dash tells PEOPLE that both of her parents have used their knowledge of their industries to help her create her own strong work ethic.

Unlike some children with famous parents, Dash isn't shying away from her parents' influence. She fully recognizes that having parents in the industry has opened doors for her.

“I really, really appreciate being able to have a last name to stand on,” Dash admits.

Dash first started modeling at age 5 or 6, when she did photo shoots for her parents’ brand Rocawear. She signed to an agency at 17 years old, though she says her career has been heating up since graduating from Loyola Marymount University in 2022.

Dash is all about working on her dreams “every single day.” As for what’s next, Dash says she wants to explore her passions of design and music.

“We’ll really see what ends up happening with this career,” Dash says. “I don’t know, but I’m excited to see.”
