Australia battles devastating wildfires

Four people have died and thousands more have been displaced since bushfires began in Australia more than a week ago. At least 300 homes in the states of New South Wales and Queensland have been razed. More than 60 bushfires are estimated to still be burning.

The blazes are now 90 per cent contained, according to the Australian Associated Press, but high temperatures through the weekend mean that could quickly change.

"Everybody has to be on alert no matter where you are and everybody has to assume the worst and we cannot allow complacency to creep in," NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, according to the BBC.
