While there have been multiple movies filmed in Augusta, few have truly put a spotlight on the area like "The Hill."

The new sports biopic, telling the true story of how Rickey Hill had to overcome physical and familial issues for a chance to play professional baseball, opened in theaters nationwide on Thursday, Aug. 24.

Residents will be happy to know that several local landmarks made the final cut and are clearly visible. Spoiler alert for those wanting to be surprised by the landmarks when watching the film.

Q&A: What filming in Augusta was like for Colin Ford, who stars with Dennis Quaid in 'The Hill'

The first chunk of the movie illustrates the childhood of its main character, Rickey Hill. Though the setting is a vintage Texas town, the audience sees Hill and his siblings peeking through the windows of Hildebrandt's in downtown Augusta and later grabbing some dinner from North Augusta's Sno-Cap Drive In. There is also a sequence from the trailer where Hill plays baseball in the middle of the Georgia-Carolina fairgrounds that was kept in the film.

Once Hill ages up, the visual Easter eggs don't stop. The one that easily gets the most attention is the Augusta GreenJackets' former home: Lake Olmstead Stadium. A ton of baseball is played on the old field and just about every angle of the treasured ballpark was shined up and shown off in the film itself and in its promotional material. The Knox Theatre in Warrenton also got a nostalgic makeover as Hill is seen exiting the theatre after apparently watching the coming-of-age classic "American Graffiti."

There are also recurring shots of the Augusta Canal, specifically around the trail bridges and the Thomas Rischar Train Bridge.

These are just some of the memorable sights from around the area. Local audiences are sure to have a fun time playing "I Spy" while enjoying the movie.

"The Hill" is being screened at Riverwatch Cinemas, Regal Augusta Exchange and Evans Cinemas. For more information, go to thehillmov.com.
