Editor's note: This story has been updated to include new information about both the Super Bowl Mountain Dew Blast and "The Conversation'' series.

It's like Aubrey Plaza somehow got her name submitted to the Tri-Wizard Tournament.

In a new Super Bowl ad released by Mountain Dew/PepsiCo., the A-list actress from Delaware is riding like Harry Potter on the back of a fire-spewing dragon.

In a portion of the Mountain Dew Baja Blast commercial, Plaza, wearing medieval clothing and long braids, "is having a blast'' riding atop the fire-spewing creature with a very familiar companion riding alongside.

An early clip of the commercial ends with Mountain Dew promising that Super Bowl LVIII between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs is "going to be a blast.'

Super Bowl commercial unites Aubrey Plaza with 'Parks & Rec' co-star

Plaza, who is a graduate of Ursuline Academy and veteran of Wilmington Drama League, got her big break starring as April Ludgate on the long-running, award-winning sitcom "Parks & Recreation" alongside Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe and Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson, among others.

The Mountain Dew commercial shows Plaza in various less-than-exciting situations, still "having a blast'': getting hit on the noggin with pool noodles at what appears to be a children's party; stuck in an elevator; hanging out in a sewer drain a la Pennywise. Things do get gradually more "blast-worthy'' as Plaza is seen getting beamed up into a spaceship and riding said dragon.

The drag segment briefly reunites Plaza with Offerman, who played her boss on the show and with whom she develops a close on-screen bond.

In an interview with Access Online, Plaza explained, "I just saw (Offerman) briefly, we just kind of made eye contact in the hallway. It was a very classic April-Ron sort of situation.''

Big things happening for Aubrey Plaza

While she did not bring home a coveted golden boy, Plaza recently made headlines as a fashion icon at the 75th annual Emmy Awards, where she was up for a Best Supporting Actress Award, in her first nomination. The nomination was for her role in the HBO hit "The White Lotus,'' and she lost out to one of several co-stars nominated in the same category — Jennifer Coolidge.

The actress also got accolades when a new movie in which she co-stars was well-received at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this month. "My Old Ass," in which Plaza travels back in time to deliver advice to her younger self, inspired praise from "The Guardian,'' "Vanity Fair'' and "Variety,'' to name a few.

This fall, Plaza also starred in her first off-Broadway show, "Danny and the Deep Blue Sea," which ended its run on Saturday, Jan. 13, as a profitable show, according to a Jan. 11 report from Variety. It was directed by Jeff Ward and written by John Patrick Shanley ("Doubt," "Moonstruck") and includes actor Christopher Abbott alongside Plaza.

There is media speculation from one website, World of Reel, that Plaza is being considered for a remake of Francis Ford Coppola's "The Conversation,'' in a part previously performed by Cindy Williams. A story in IndieWire, however, states that the project is planned as a series written and directed by  J.C. Chandor and casting has not begun.

More certain is that Plaza will appear in a new film by filmmaker/husband-wife duo Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, "Honey, Dont!'' a dark comedy that also features Chris Evans and Margaret Qualley, as reported by Deadline and other outlets.

When is Super Bowl 2024?

How do I watch Super Bowl LVIII?

CBS is set to broadcast the Super Bowl from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. EST. While the game will be broadcast on CBS, there will be an alternative broadcast on Nickelodeon, according to CBS.com. Fans can also stream the game on Paramount+.

Who is performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

R&B singer Usher is the headlining performer of this year's Super Bowl halftime show. The eight-time Grammy winner has released several hits since the '90s including "U Got it Bad," "You Make Me Wanna" and "Burn."

Usher has had a residency in Las Vegas since 2021.

What NFL star is Taylor Swift dating?

Superstar pop singer Taylor Swift is in a relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Swift and Kelce made their first public appearance together this NFL season during Week 3 in September after she attended her first game at Arrowhead Stadium. T-Swift sat in a suite next to Kelce's mom, Donna, and cheered him on as the Chiefs defeated the Chicago Bears.

Kelce is the younger brother to beloved Eagles center Jason Kelce, who might enter into retirement this offseason.

Are other Super Bowl commercials already getting buzz?

Plaza obviously isn't the only big name featured in Super Bowl commercials this year. Kardashian mom Kris Jenner will appear in her first-ever Super Bowl commercial with Oreo.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and son-in-law Chris Pratt (who co-starred with Plaza on "Parks and Recreation") will appear in State Farm and Pringles ads, respectively.

WWE icon Stone Cold Steve Austin is back in a Super Bowl commercial after 25 years, bringing first-time advertiser Kawasaki to the party — with a mix of business and sporting a mullet to drive home the point.

But you can also anticipate some random commercials to pop up during the Super Bowl featuring celebrities that might be a treat, or not.

This is not the first plug for a beverage by Aubrey Plaza

The Delaware native was a spokesperson for the dairy industry’s “Got Milk?’’ campaign last spring, where she did a spoof video for a fictitious product named "Wood Milk." The beverage claimed to be the latest and greatest beverage that's eco-friendly, artisanal, free-range.

Last June, Cointreau shared an ad with Plaza teaming up with the beverage company. On Cointreau's YouTube, the company wrote: "In Celebrating 75 years of The Original Margarita, we’ve enlisted our friend Aubrey Plaza to show the world how to make the iconic cocktail the MargaRight way – with Cointreau of course!"
