JTBC’s upcoming highly anticipated drama The Atypical Family features Jang Ki-Yong and Chun Woo-Hee in the lead. While the viewers are already loving their onscreen chemistry, in a chat session, the actors reveal their first impression of each other.

The Atypical Family is a rom-com fantasy drama about a mystical family whose members possess different superpowers. Due to present-day issues and mental health struggles, their abilities are fading.

Jang Ki-Yong plays Bok Gwi-Joo, one of the family members who could travel back in time to happy memories. But because of his depression, he can no longer do so. Chun Woo-Hee plays a mysterious character, Do Da-Hae, who might become the key for the Bok family to restore their powers. How their lives get intertwined is shown in the drama.

Ki-Yong and Woo-Hee appear on Salon Drip 2 to promote The Atypical Family. While talking to Jang Do-Yeon during the show, they opened up about their first impressions of each other.

Ki-Yong, who plays Bok Gwi-Joo, said, “I really liked her. She was a senior I wanted to work with. I watched a lot of movies, from ‘Sunny’ to ‘The Wailing’.”

He further added, “I saw a lot of characters with strong feelings, but when I actually saw her, she was the exact opposite of the image I had in mind.” Jang Ki-Yong then described Chun Woo-Hee as a person who has “an easygoing and understanding personality.”

In the same conversation, Chun Woo-Hee praised Jang Ki-Yong. She shared, “First of all, I felt he was very warm on the outside. What I learned while working on the project is that he is a quiet person and works hard at his job.” Woo-Hee further added showing her excitement, This is my first time working with a younger person.”

Woo-Hee then shared that they have a great bond not only in The Atypical Family but also offscreen. She explained, “I occasionally exchange text messages with Jang Ki-yong. He recommended music, and it was music by ‘Ludovico Einaudi,’ an artist I really like.”

The Atypical Family is all set to air on May 4, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. KST on JTBC and Netflix.
