Attorney Ben Crump files lawsuit after woman claims racial discrimination at Central Florida bank

Civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump is back in Central Florida on Thursday.

Crump is filing what he calls a “banking while Black” lawsuit on behalf of a 70-year-old retired teacher.

The lawsuit claims, Linda Stephens was a victim of racial discrimination at a branch of Mid-Florida Credit Union.

The suit alleges the bank called the police on her after she expressed concern about a deposit for her mortgage that didn’t appear in her account.

Crump said the issue with the deposit was due to a bank error.

Stephens claims, during the arrest she suffered a fractured nose.

Channel 9 is monitoring a news conference with Crump and others and will provide updates on Eyewitness News.
