The Deadmau5 protege has always kept a slight air of mystery, and while “Ryat” definitely has the upbeat appeal of its giddy counterparts, his take on a song for the season maintains a certain degree of distinction. The happy synth melodies are perfectly countered by a hint of darkness in its looming bass and repetitive sirens. It’s catchy, but it’s not sugary-sweet, and that makes it all the better.
“Ryat” is the first single from the Canadian producer’s forthcoming Bloom EP, set for release on mau5trap.
