Attention Florida lovebirds: This museum has an R-rated nature walk for Valentine' Day
If you and your lover are all about pure animal magnetism, the Tallahassee Museum is hosting the perfect Valentine’s date night for you.
It’s an adults-only event with a cocktail hour, light hors d’oeuvres and a “birds and the bees” animal encounter, where you and your sweetheart can learn about courtship and reproduction in the wild.
“Experience the naughty night prowl – an entertaining night walk down our Florida Wildlife Trail while discussing the wild side of our native animals,” the museum’s website says.
Here’s how to buy you and your lovebird tickets to Tallahassee Museum’s “Frolics of Florida” date night event.
How much does it cost to go to the Tallahassee Museum?
The Tallahassee Museum has been at its current location along Lake Bradford since the 1960s and added its Wildlife Florida Trail of native wildlife in the ‘90s.
Until 2005, it was a children’s museum called the Tallahassee Junior Museum. Now, the largely outdoor museum appeals to a larger crowd. The museum has boardwalks overlooking enclosures of rehabilitated or born-in-captivity animals that are native to the Sunshine State, preserved old Florida buildings (like a 1890s school house, and a 19th century church and plantation home) and a recreation of an 1880s farm.
Visiting the museum typically costs around $10 to $12, but the “Frolics of Florida” Valentine’s date night is a ticketed event with food and drinks, so it costs from $55 to $100 to attend.
How to buy tickets to the Tallahassee Museum’s Valentine’s date night
You can register for the event here, on the Tallahassee Museum’s website. Since the event is only for guests 21 and over, you’ll have to bring your ID to get in.
The event is on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
When registering for the event, you’ll have to provide each guest's birthday as the first proof of age and select a meat or vegetarian option for hors d’oeuvres.
Tickets are $100 for a couple, or you can pay $55 for a single ticket. The museum's website says to dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes, since it is an outdoor event.
