If you are a book lover, avid reader, book club participant, independent bookstore frequent shopper, well Hallmark Channel has just the new movie for you. Blind Date Book Club starring Erin Krakow and Robert Buckley tells the story of Meg (Krakow) whom we meet at a crossroads. She’s been running a family owned bookstore after her mother’s death. Her aunt wishes to exit the business and retire but does Meg want to do this forever or does she want to return to her life in the city working in real estate?

Graham Sterling (Buckley) is a successful author looking to branch out of his genre but his latest work has received some tough to swallow criticism. While in his car, he hears a radio interview with Meg about her bookstore’s buzzy blind date with a book club. Meg and her staff wrap books in plain paper and write just a few vague words of description on the paper to guide customers' selection. She talks about her passion to be focused on just the great stories and Graham decides he will go find her bookstore and pitch his newest work to the club.

Slowly Graham and Meg get to know each other and grow close. They each help the other with the big decisions facing them and their respective careers. And well, of course sparks begin to fly. The chemistry Krakow and Buckley create makes this a really fun ride.

Krakow, a Florida native, recently spoke to Southern Living and said of her co-star, “Rob is just the best. He’s so fun and funny and very, very prepared and kind. Kind to everyone. Knows everyone’s name. He’s just a really good person and so funny. So funny. I mean I could just sit and chat with him for hours and by the end of it my stomach is hurting from laughing so hard. He’s just really quick witted and clever.”

The story doesn’t just focus on this budding romance. There is also an equally delightful portrayal of friendship between Meg and Alice (Faith Wright). “Faith, who plays Alice, was just so much fun. It was important to us to create a sort of sisterly dynamic that illustrated just how much time together they spent in the store and their history as friends…I think we did that. And I just really loved spending time together,” Krakow said.

It's a romance, a story about friendship, and this flick is also a beautiful love letter to independent bookstores. “Great independent bookshops, they just have a different energy about them, don’t they? It’s like everybody is hungry to be swept away to some fantasy land but there’s a shared hunger in that. Everybody wants to have that experience of getting lost in a good book.”

Blind Date Book Club premieres on Hallmark Channel Saturday, April 6, at 8p.m. EST.
