2023 Nitto ATP Finals: Players, Predictions

The Nitto ATP Finals mark the finale of the 2023 ATP Tour season. The event features the world’s eight best men’s singles players and eight best doubles teams, who compete to earn prize money and ranking points. The tournament winners will get to hoist the ATP Finals trophy, while the ATP Year-End No. 1 trophy will be awarded to the player (and team) ranked at No. 1 by the end of the event.

The 2023 ATP Final features two groups who will play in a round-robin format: the Green Group consists of Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Holger Rune. The Red Group features Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Alexander Zverev. The top two finishers in each group advance to the semifinals in a knock-out stage. The two winners of the semifinals will then meet in the final.

Djokovic is the defending champion, having defeated Casper Ruud in the finals of the 2022 event. He has his sights on finishing as the ATP Year-End No. 1 for the record-extending eighth time. The Serbian is the current World No. 1, though he’ll face stiff competition from the number two-ranked Alcarez, who famously defeated Novak at Wimbledon this year.

Djokovic is the betting favorite to win the ATP Final. Pre-tournament predictions have Alcarez right behind him, with Medvedev and hometown favorite Sinner with favored odds as well.

This is the 54th edition of the tournament (49th in doubles). Djokovic is the current active record title holder, with six wins to his name. The men’s tournament comes on the heels of the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup event, which featured the best female tennis players competing with their countries for a chance to lay claim to the best tennis nation in the world.
