Atlanta News Team Uses Notorious B.I.G. Lyrics in Newscast as Tribute to Rapper

In honor of the 20th anniversary of influential rapper Notorious B.I.G. death, Atlanta’s WSBTV 2 news team paid tribute by using Biggie lyrics throughout their newscast. Anchor Fred Blankenship told viewers about traffic delays and added, “And if you don’t know, now you know about those.”

His colleague, Mark Arum, reported, “I know you thought birthdays were the worst days but I think Thursday might be the worst days out of Forsyth County.”

Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, who represents the area of New York in which Biggie Smalls lived, joined in on the fun. He paid tribute by reciting lyrics from the rapper’s iconic song “Juicy” in the House of Representatives floor.

And though, Biggie is gone, he will live forever in newscasters’ traffic updates, like Arum’s, “Unfortunately, your car can not go 160 swiftly on the East Side Perimeter.”
