The Atlanta Falcons Are Selling $5 Craft Beer So I Guess Football Is Good Again

The NFL has had some problems. Its owners want to fine players who kneel for the National Anthem. Last year's Super Bowl hit its lowest ratings in nine years. Tom Brady continues to basically beg for people to hate him. But the Atlanta Falcons-yes, the Falcons-did a good thing: They cut food and drink prices by a ton.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Falcons, rolled out remarkably low concession prices last season. But it just cut them by an additional 12 percent, ESPN reports. That means an ATL Bud burger is going for $8, Italian sausage sandwiches are going for $7, and cheese fries are going for $5. Better yet, the stadium will offer cheap craft beer on draft: $5 for a 12 oz., and $7 for a 20 oz. That's a better deal than most bars in New York City will give you.

Sure, you say. This is all great news for Atlanta folks. They can now rub it in the faces of San Francisco Giants baseball fans, who have to pay $19.25 for a 22 oz. craft beer-the most expensive in the sport, per ESPN. Or Browns fans, who have to pay $11 for cans of craft beer in addition to being Browns fans.

But the Falcons' food and drink prices extend to Super Bowl LIII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where people from around the country will descend to drink cheap beer, cheer as the Patriots lose again (maybe), and sit through a half-time show that's actually Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's wedding (probably).

If this pricing catches on, football has a shot at being good again.
