'Atlanta''s New Episode Is All About Drake

There’s a party at Drake’s house, but where is he?

The new episode of Donald Glover’s FX series “Atlanta” is titled “Champagne Papi.” (Spoilers ahead.) The episode is about a party at Drake’s mansion, and for the entire episode, a Drake cameo is teased. Van (Zazie Beetz) and her friends go to the party trying to get a selfie with Drake. Gradually, Van walks through his mansion, raids his closet, and meets his abuelo. Drake never appears. The episode features a somber piano cover of “Passionfruit” and a Spanish-language rendition of “Hotline Bling.” (The final line in the episode: “Drake’s Mexican!”) Watch the episode at FX.

Ibra Ake, who wrote the episode, joked about the episode’s origins on Twitter: “i wrote tonight’s episode of atlanta as a piece of content for drake’s roll-out of ‘nice for what.’ enjoy.”

The last episode of “Atlanta” was titled “Teddy Perkins”—a 41-minute episode that aired on FX without commercial breaks. It was later revealed that Glover stayed in character as Perkins on set during filming.
