ATG opens it 2023-24 Broadway season with 'Pretty Woman: The Musical'

SOUTH BEND — American Theatre Guild begins its 2023-24 season with “Pretty Woman: The Musical” from Nov. 3 to 5 at the Morris Performing Arts Center, 211 N. Michigan St.

Based on the 1990 film, the musical features the Roy Orbison hit “Oh, Pretty Woman,” original music and lyrics by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and a book by the movie’s director, Garry Marshall, and screenwriter, J.F. Lawton.

As in the film, the musical charts the romance between Edward Lewis, a corporate raider in Los Angeles for a week of business meetings, and Vivian Ward, a prostitute he hires to pose as his girlfriend.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Nov. 3, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nov. 4, and 2 p.m. Nov. 5.
