After a wide appreciation of the first two installments, Asur Season 3’s release date has been highly anticipated amongst viewers. The psychological thriller series follows the story of Nikhil Nair, a forensic expert-turned-teacher, who leads an uneventful life with his family. He eventually ends up collaborating with his former mentor Dhananjay Rajpoot to catch a serial killer.
Here’s all the Asur 3 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.
Is there an Asur 3 release date?
Fans of Asur are in for a little bit of disappointment as there has been no official news of a renewal or the announcement of a release date for Asur 3. However, it doesn’t mean that the thriller series has reached its end. Some words from the director and one of the lead actors from the series have left some hope for the future of the psychological thriller.
In an interview with Bollywood Life, director Oni Sen explained that it wasn’t necessary for him and creator Gaurav Shukla to make a Season 3 just because the first two seasons were extremely successful. He said that each of the seasons takes a couple of years to ideate and that “a lot of work” goes behind it.
However, he was still optimistic about a third season and confessed to just waiting for a “spark.” He said, “I think what we have decided is that we will do it once Gaurav gets an idea of how and what the take of Asur 3 could be. And if it’s a fantastic idea, he will reach out and we will have a chat and we’ll take a call and then plan ahead. Right now, I think it’s all in limbo. We’re waiting for the spark. Gaurav’s waiting for the spark.”
Lead actor Arshad Warsi, who plays the role of mentor Dhananjay Rajpoot, admitted in an exclusive interview to Pinkvilla that he’d spoken with the makers about making Season 3 while they were filming the second season so that people wouldn’t forget about it.
Warsi also expressed that it would be a foolish decision to not make Asur 3. He said, “If you are watching a series and you are enjoying it, you want closure. You want to see what happens in the end. If someone shuts the film 30 minutes before the end, I’d kill them (jokingly).”
Fans can still expect a third season of their beloved series, but as director Oni Sen pointed out, it could take a couple of years. So it might get a release window of late 2025 or early 2026 as per previous release patterns. This date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.
If the series is renewed for Season 3, we can expect Barun Sobti and Arshad Warsi to play the lead roles of Nikhil Nair and Dhananjay Rajpoot.

Asur 3 isn’t confirmed to release on any streaming service.

“Set in the backdrop of the mystical city of Varanasi, Asur follows Nikhil Nair, a forensic-expert-turned-teacher, who returns to his roots at the Central Bureau of Investigation, and along with his former mentor Dhananjay Rajpoot, finds himself caught in a cat and mouse game with a brutal serial killer.”
