‘Assassin’s Creed’ Studio Ubisoft Relaunching Podcast ‘Echoes Of History’ On History Hit

EXCLUSIVE: Ubisoft podcast Echoes of History is relaunching to tie in with the latest instalment of the Assassin’s Creed gaming franchise.

Following a Ubisoft deal with unscripted streaming service History Hit, the podcast will become a weekly, ‘always-on’ show that will extend to long-form monthly videos. Always-on podcasts are those that constantly provide new episodes in an open-ended fashion, eschewing a limited-episode season format.

Each episode will also be published on History Hit’s YouTube channel, which currently has around 1.15 million subscribers. Host of History Hit’s Gone Medieval podcast will present the new look pod.

The news ties in with the announcement that the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be titled Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, set in Feudal Japan. The game was officially unveiled through a trailer about 15 minutes ago online and will launch on November 15.

The Echoes of History episodes will provide listeners with details about the period’s politics, cultures and legendary shinobi and samurai warriors. Historian and game developer Holly Nielsen a new regular contributor. She will compare the real history with the game’s narrative.

Shadows launches in November, by which point regular listeners will be experts in the time. By joining History Hit, the podcast will be in front of a new audience of history enthusiasts.
