Daria Nicolodi, the famed Italian actress that co-wrote the 1977 classic movie "Suspiria" and starred in the films "Deep Red" and "Inferno," has died. She was 70.

Her daughter, actress Asia Argento, 45, announced the death of her mom on Instagram Thursday. She captioned a slideshow of pictures, "Rest in peace beloved mother."

In the heartfelt tribute, written in Italian, Argento said her mother's spirit can "fly free," and she doesn't have to suffer anymore. The actress said that although she misses her mother greatly, she will continue on for Nicolodi's "beloved grandchildren." Argento has two children – daughter Anna Lou, 19, with musician Marco Castoldi, and son Nicola, 12, with film director Michele Civetta.

"I will always be your Aria," concluded Argento, referencing her real first name.

The couple welcomed Asia Argento together in 1975 and separated in 1985.

Asia Argento, who was among the first to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, emerged as a leader in the #MeToo movement before facing sexual assault allegations of her own in 2018. Argento denied allegations that she sexually assaulted former child actor Jimmy Bennett in 2013.
