Asia Argento Kicked Off 'X Factor Italy' In Wake of Sexual Abuse Allegations

Tough Times

Argento has been through some turbulent times in the past few years, starting with publicly accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, dealing with the death of her boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, and being fired from "X-Factor Italy" after being accused of committing sexual abuse.

She was also one of the first women to come out to the media about her dealings with Weinstein in a French hotel during the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

In 2017 Argento told the New Yorker that she never spoke out about the abuse she suffered by his hand because she was afraid he would ruin her career.

“I know he has crushed a lot of people before,” Argento told the magazine. “That’s why this story—in my case, it’s twenty years old, some of them are older—has never come out.”

Anthony Bourdain

Bourdain, her longtime boyfriend, tragically took his own life on June 8, 2018.

After his passing, Argento released a statement where she said that she was “beyond devastated” and asked the public to respect her privacy.

While dealing with the loss, she used Instagram to convey her emotions and share what music was helping her cope.

Accusations Against Her

Just months after Bourdan’s death, she was accused of sexually assaulting an underaged male co-star.

The released a statement at the time denying the allegations and said that Bourdain ended up paying off the accuser because he wanted to handle the matter privately.

Shortly after the accusations surfaced, she was fired from her job as a judge on “X-Factor Italy.”

After some tough times, it seems like the actress is in a better place and is stronger than ever.
