Asia Argento, Frances Barber, Tamer Hassan, Laura Whitmore Join ‘A Mother for an Hour’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Asia Argento (“The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things”), Frances Barber (“A Bird Flew In”), Tamer Hassan (“The Football Factory”), Laura Whitmore (“Sadhbh”) and child actor Erin Ainsworth have joined the cast of “A Mother for an Hour.”
The film, which is being directed by Giga Agladze, follows the story of a woman who poses as the lost mother of a dying child and discovers through this act a world of deceit and violence.

Agladze’s most recent movie is surrealistic drama “The Other Me” (2022), starring Jim Sturgess and Andrea Pejic, executive produced by David Lynch.
“A Mother for an Hour” is being produced by Kirsty Bell, Goldfinch CEO and co-founder of The Number 44, and Ben Charles Edwards, also a co-founder of The Number 44. The executive producers are Phil McKenzie and David Kereselidze. It is shooting in the North of England, predominantly in Newcastle, Hartlepool and surrounding areas.
Production outfit The Number 44 has also been in production recently with psychological horror “Hush Now” – also set in the North of England. It is directed by Brad Watson (“I’ll Play Mother”), written by Dominic Wells and produced by Bell and Edwards.
“Hush Now” is set in an infected world where girls are carriers and a young orphan finds sanctuary in a ramshackle foster home. She soon discovers it’s not the world outside the garden walls that she should fear. It’s the girls inside with her.
The film stars Roxanne McKee (“Game of Thrones”), Olivia-Mai Barrett (“Kandahar”), Luke Brandon-Field (“Interview With a Vampire”), Nick Moran (“Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels”), Meesha Garbett (“Matilda”), Connie Jenkins-Greig (“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”), Victor Hugo (“Gemini Man”) and Jack McEvoy (“Vikings”).
The Number 44 is in post-production on “I’ll Play Mother,” starring Susanne Wuest, Shubham Saraf and Jo Martin, and “The Wheels of Heaven,” starring Mickey Rourke, Gary Stretch and Geoff Bell.
Goldfinch, a leading entertainment financier, has been involved in the financing of 300 plus productions since its inception in 2014, with investments through Goldfinch Finance of over $200 million.
Goldfinch is midway through production on the documentary “Don’t Forget Me,” about the life of rock and roll star Eddie Cochran, featuring Cliff Richard, Tim Rice and Louis Walsh.
Agladze has directed and produced several documentary films including “Alan” (2016) about actor Alan Rickman’s visit to Georgia in 2007, and “Hennessy, Eight Generation” (2016). Giga, in collaboration with Dato Turashvili, co-produced and filmed a trilogy documentary about Georgian artist immigrants living in Paris, “The Iron Curtain” (2008), which aired on BBC. Other films included “Henry” (2016), “7th Day of May” (2020) and “4 Days for Love” (2021), a documentary about Lynch’s visit to Georgia.
