Ashton Kutcher is not going to space (yet) after Mila Kunis convinced him to sell his ticket

Ashton Kutcher is staying earthbound for now, after his wife, Mila Kunis, convinced him to sell his ticket on a space flight.

The actor, best known for his roles on "That '70s Show" and "Two and a Half Men," had a ticket for a space flight through Virgin Galactic, which conducted a successful test flight with its space plane, VSS Unity, earlier this month. The company has only one test flight left before trips start for paying customers.

Kutcher was scheduled to be on one of those first trips, but Kunis convinced him the voyage was "not a smart family decision."

"I was supposed to be on the next flight, but I will not be on the next flight," he told website Cheddar News in a recent interview.

The actor was Virgin Galactic's 500th paying customer when he bought a ticket in 2012. In the past nine years, a lot has changed, though: Kutcher married Kunis, his "That '70s Show" costar, and had two children, Wyatt, 6, and Dimitri, 4.

"My wife basically encouraged that it was not a smart family decision to be heading into space when we have young children," he said. "So I ended up selling my ticket back to Virgin Galactic."

So far, the company has sold more than 600 tickets ranging in price from $200,000 to $250,000, with sales expected to reopen soon at a higher price. Billionaire Richard Branson, who owns the space flight's parent company, the Virgin Group, made it to space last week with his team on the fourth-ever test flight of a vehicle reaching the edge of space.

While Kutcher may not be on one of Virgin Galactic's first commercial flights, he hasn't given up on the dream of leaving the planet.

"At some point, I'm going to space," he told Cheddar.
