Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris are proud parents of two.

The former couple shares two children together: a daughter named Sloane and a son named Ocean.

Krieger and Harris first met while playing for the United States National Team in 2010, and quickly became close. After announcing their engagement in March 2019, the two got married in Miami, Florida that December.

On Sept. 19, 2023, Harris filed for divorce from Krieger in Florida, PEOPLE confirmed via the Seminole County Clerk's website.

Both Krieger and Harris have shared looks into their family dynamic over the years, posting photos of their children cheering them on at games and gushing about them in interviews.

Krieger and Harris’ first child, daughter Sloane Phillips Krieger-Harris, was born on Feb. 12, 2021. At the time, they both shared photos of them with Sloane at the hospital, alongside moving messages to the birth mother and to one another.

"Dear Birth Mom, Our promise: We promise Sloane will be loved every single day by us, our friends and our family,” they wrote. “We promise to give her the tools to live a happy, successful life of inclusivity and support. We promise to share her adoption story with her from the very beginning and celebrate every milestone! We promise to encourage her to follow her dreams no matter how big or small. We promise to be open minded and respect your wishes to have future communication and that she will always know how much you love her!"

As the couple celebrated their first Mother’s Day that May, they opened up to PEOPLE about why they decided to adopt. "I think we were very honest, like, 'Okay, we're ready for kids, but we're not ready to take off a whole entire year of our career,' which at our age could be the end," Harris said.

"We knew immediately that adoption was what we wanted to do, so we could actually do both," she continued. "And it has worked out incredibly and it happened so quick."

That same month, Krieger and Harris opened up to PEOPLE about how they are putting in the work to thoughtfully raise daughter Sloane, who is Black and Puerto Rican.

"I think for what's going on in our culture, it's really just sitting back and listening and doing our research and giving the floor to our teammates who are Black and having them, not educate us, but really lead us in the right direction. And it's our job to listen," Krieger said.

"We're just diving into the work and understanding what diversity means in our home, first and foremost," Krieger said. "That goes to dolls, magazines, food, the people, the diversity in our lives, everything matters. We want her to feel that we are celebrating her culture in our own home first, but making sure that that's the same in her school, and with our nanny and all the things like that, it really does matter."

Krieger added, "We're taking diversity courses online, we're doing the work we need to do to make sure she gets to celebrate her culture."

The month prior, Harris and Krieger opened up to PEOPLE about their support system, noting that Sloane had some “powerhouse aunties,” including USWNT teammates Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan as well as their fellow Orlando Pride players Sydney Leroux and Marta.

“[They] are going to really show her that she can do anything she puts her mind to. And I think that's incredible," Harris said. She added that she’s also “going to be held accountable," joking, "All these aunties are great, but, man, they're hard. They're competitive, too. She's going to learn the ropes quickly."

In an interview with PEOPLE in August 2022, the couple spoke about Sloane's eating habits, saying she is on a "mostly plant-based" diet, though some of her other favorite snacks include yogurt, crackers and Yumi bars, and she gets excited for a "colorful" plate.

"My wife and I are excited to share that we have adopted a baby boy. Our hearts are full during this time and we are so grateful for the love and support our family, friends and club have shown," Harris wrote at the time.

Big sister Sloane "has been thriving and wakes up every morning saying 'Baby, baby," Harris continued in her post. "We are incredibly thankful and excited for this new chapter as we parent 2 under 2. Let the sleepless nights rage on @alikrieger ... I wouldn't want it any other way. Ocean Maeve Krieger-Harris, welcome to the family baby boy. Your Moms and big sister love you very much.🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊"

Since his arrival, the couple has shared a few adorable photos of him, including one on the soccer field in May 2023. “Some moments can be captured so beautifully words really can’t describe it,” Harris wrote alongside the photo of her holding Ocean. “To my family, You are everything and more to me. 🥹”

Meanwhile, Krieger has posted various photos of her one-on-one time with her little man. In August 2023, she posted a sweet photo of them looking at the water, with the caption, “This Ocean has my heart.🌊🥹❤️.”
