Ashley Tisdale's 'Clipped' Canceled at TBS After First Season

TBS has taken the shears to “Clipped,” canceling the comedy after one season.
The series starred Ashley Tisdale, George Wendt and Mike Castle and was set in a Boston-area barbershop. It focused on a now-grown, formerly unpopular kid (Ryan Pinkston), who becomes his old classmates’ boss. The series was created by “Will & Grace” duo David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, who exec produced via their KoMut Entertainment with Warner Horizon Television. Director James Widdoes also exec produced.
“Clipped” premiered in June to 1.4 million viewers, despite its lead-in from “Big Bang Theory” reruns, and averaged between 1.2 to 1.3 million throughout its run. Along with failed sitcoms “Ground Floor” and “Sullivan & Son,” it is another example of how TBS has been struggling to find successful original comedies — something newly-minted president Kevin Reilly has vowed to change.
“The new TBS will have a huge slate of originals, awesomely in-your-face and effortlessly diverse live-action comedies, original animation, big unscripted ideas with attitude, latenight talk and, of course, championship sports,” Reilly said at this year’s Upfronts.
Reilly has on deck “Wrecked,” an ensemble comedy from writers Justin Shipley and Jordan Shipley and showrunner Moses Port, to which he’s given a 10-episode order. TBS also has the family road trip comedy “The Detour” from “Daily Show” alums Samantha Bee and Jason Jones, as well as a late-night show centered around Bee.
