Ashley Tisdale Says Zac Efron Was Her Worst Kiss and Explains Exactly Why

Both Ashley Tisdale and Zac Efron were costars on the hit film, High School Musical back in 2016, and have remained close to each other since, as has other members of the cast. But the two had a steamy encounter that was brought to light by Tisdale, recently with ELLE Magazine.

The actress sat down for an interview as part of ELLE's 'Thirst Trap' interview series where Tisdale was given the option of answering tough questions or drinking a concoction of something not very appetizing. One particular question that she was asked focused on her previous on-screen kisses with people.

Tisdale Reveals Worst On-Screen Kiss

Tisdale was asked by the interviewer 'who the worst on-screen kiss' was with. The actress had the option to drink the strong mystery concoction but chose to answer the question anyway. For her, she claims her worst kiss on-screen was with her former HSM costar, Zac Efron.

"I’ll tell you why it was the worst, okay? I had to kiss Zac Efron on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and it’s the worst because I am so close to him and he’s like my brother," she explained.

On the show, Efron was guest-starring as a boy named Trevor who kissed Tisdale's character, Maddie. Tisdale would go on to further elaborate as to why it was her worst on-screen kiss, aside from the fact that she felt like family to Efron.

Efron and Tisdale Are Like Family

For Tisdale, it wasn't only that she was so close to Efron, but also the way in which Efron engaged in the on-screen kiss. Tisdale explained.

"At the time, he was used to acting on like, Warner Brothers, which is CW, and we were on Disney Channel,” the actress said. “And so he like, he tried kissing me with his tongue, and I was like, get away from me! I closed my mouth so fast."

"I was like, ‘this is Disney Channel, we don’t kiss like that on Disney Channel!'" Tisdale said, awkwardly laughing. "It’s just weird when you’re so close to somebody, and we’d already done the movie, I’d known him for years before. That is why it was the worst. It’s just we’re too close."

The HSM Cast Remains Very Close

Of course, Tisdale was being playful in her comments and Efron remains a close friend of hers to this day. The two hit it off as good friends during the filming of High School Musical. Tisdale has been very open about their bond, as well as, the relationships with other cast members from the film.

"I just love that we all still love each other and love hanging out with each other and have that connection, you know," she told Entertainment Tonight back in 2016, which was the ten year anniversary of the film's release.

"Nobody thought it was going to be as successful as it was," the actor continued. "It was really, purely because of the fans that it was that successful and the fact that they've supported us throughout the years has been amazing."
