Countless actresses auditioned for Mean Girls, and Ashley Tisdale was one of them.

The High School Musical breakout stopped by Watch What Happens Live! on Monday, where she was asked by a fan if it was true she auditioned for the role of Karen Smith in the hit 2004 film.

“Gosh, it was so long ago,” Tisdale said. “I just remember screen-testing, and it was me and Blake Lively and someone else. But yeah, I screen-tested. That was like, eons ago, obviously.”

Amanda Seyfried eventually went on to portray Karen, and the film marked the Emmy-winning actress’ biggest role at the time. Shortly after, Tisdale landed The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and then High School Musical. Lively starred in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants before landing the lead role in Gossip Girl.

During her appearance on the late night show, Tisdale also recounted her audition for Mean Girls.

“I just remember I ad-libbed — because I always like in an audition to steal the scene — and I ad-libbed one line, and they put it in the movie,” Tisdale told Andy Cohen. “And I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?'” She joked, “I should have gotten a writer’s credit. I’m kidding, but I was like, ‘Dang.'”

Seyfriend previously opened up about her audition process for the Tina Fey-penned film, directed by Mark Waters, explaining that she originally read for the role of Regina George, which eventually went to Rachel McAdams.

“I met Lacey Chabert for the first time, and Lindsay Lohan was in the room, and Blake Lively was playing Karen, and then I was Regina,” she told Vanity Fair. “I flew home, and they were like, ‘We think you’re more correct for Karen,’” she said. “So I was like, ‘Oh god, OK, sure.’”
