Ashley Graham shares #MeToo story about being sexually assaulted when she was only 17

Model Ashley Graham was a guest host on The View, where she opened up about being sexually assaulted when she was only 17 years old and working on a major campaign shoot.

After discussing photographer Terry Richardson, who has been accused of sexual assault by several women, Graham shared her own #MeToo story of assault.

Graham recounted, “A photo assistant said, ‘Come here, I want to talk to you.’ And he lured me into this hallway, pushed me into a closet. He exposed himself. And he said, look at what you did to me all day long. Now touch it.”

Graham didn’t know how to react to the assault and said, “I freaked out and I ran out of the closet. I just prayed that no one would find out. Because if they found out that he did that to me, I thought, I’m never going to get hired for a job again.”

Graham went on to say that had the #MeToo movement happened before her incident, she probably would have reacted differently to being assaulted. “I would have smacked that guy,” she said. “I probably would have started screaming, called my agency. Who knows what would have happened?”

Graham also lauded the #MeToo movement, saying, “The movement is working and I really feel like there’s women who are standing up and saying, ‘No, me too and I’m going to watch out for my sisters on set.'”

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC.
