Ashley Bell Cast As Lead In ‘Next Door’; Alex Meraz Joins David Ayer’s ‘Bright’

Actress Ashley Bell has been cast as the lead in the film Next Door from MarVista Entertainment. Directed by Kenny Gage and Devon Downs, the film is about a young woman who accepts an offer from her therapist neighbor to be treated for free and thinks she’s found the perfect situation. But the more she learns about her seemingly altruistic savior, the more she begins to fear for her safety. Adam Rockoff wrote the pic with Kimberly A. Ray producing. Bell most recently starred in this summer’s indie film Carnage Park from IFC and has also completed production on Mickey Keating’s Psychopaths. Bell is repped by Untitled, Gersh and Stone, Genow, Smelkinson.

Suicide Squad actor Alex Meraz is reuniting with David Ayer and Will Smith in the Netflix film Bright. The fantastical cop thriller feature written by Max Landis also stars Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace. Eric Newman, Ayer, Landis and Bryan Unkeless are producing the pic, which will debut on the streaming giant in 2017. In addition to Suicide Squad, Meraz’s film credits include The Twilight Saga films and Bone Tomahawk. He is repped by Innovative and Corner Booth Entertainment.
