Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross Talk Stealing from Each Other's Closets: 'Everybody Wants the Coats' (Exclusive)

The couple spoke to PEOPLE about launching tailored tracksuits with Chivas Regal and Falguni Shane Peacock during NYFW

Ashlee Simpson Ross and Evan Ross are couple goals — especially when it comes to their fashion.

The couple revealed they raid each other’s closets “all the time” as they discussed their matching styles at the Chivas Regal Golden Hour Soiree during New York Fashion Week on Tuesday.

“I mean, when I feel like I'm over my closet, I'm in his closet,” Ashlee, 39, shares with PEOPLE in an exclusive chat at the event.

“She steals from my closet way more,” Evan, 35, explains as his wife agrees. “I do. He has a great collection of coats, so I'm definitely there for that,” Ashlee says.

The two were on hand at the event to launch Chivas Regal's limited-edition Golden Hour Glow Up Set, featuring matching tailored tracksuits from fashion house Falguni Shane Peacock. The black and gold tracksuits — dropping for Valentine's Day — are perfect for couples, which is why both Chivas Regal and Falguni Shane Peacock wanted a stylish couple to help them celebrate.

“This collaboration delves into the playful concept of black tie at home that is relaxed, yet still elicits luxury cues through the lens of our design aesthetic — a tailored tracksuit that is also perfect for lounging,” designers Falguni and Shane Peacock said in a press release.

When it comes to getting ready together, Ashlee and Evan say they have the process mastered.

“I think somehow we somehow kind of follow each other's lead in some senses,” Evan says.

“If it's for an event or something, or even just going out, it's whoever found the first look,” Ashlee tells PEOPLE. “Usually it's me, and you go along with it,” she adds, pointing to her husband.

The couple often steps out in coordinated style for events — and hearing that they orchestrate it behind the scenes makes the end result that much sweeter. But one thing is for certain when it comes to their couple style — they don't want to be too matchy-matchy. At least if Ashlee has anything to say about it.

"We're pretty good with it," Evan says. "I try to get her to match me all the time, but she tries not to match."

This week, the couple spent time together in N.Y.C. for Fashion Week. Ashlee sat front row for the Christian Siriano show on Thursday, and both were seen out and about looking as stylish as ever. As the twice-yearly event comes to a close, the two are excited to get back to their kids for Valentine's Day for a "date night" with everyone together.

The two share Ziggy Blu, 3, and Jagger Snow, 7. Ashlee also has son Bronx Mowgli, 15, whom she shares with ex-husband Pete Wentz.
