EXCLUSIVE: The Artists Equity movie Unstoppable remains exactly that: After the production was shut down during the WGA strike, the sports movie directed by William Goldenberg and starring Jennifer Lopez and Jharrel Jerome will return to shooting December 12. Don Cheadle, Michael Peña and Bobby Cannavale have now joined the cast.

In addition, Amazon MGM Studios will be distributing the movie, repping its second collaboration with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity in the wake of this year’s acclaimed Air ($90 million worldwide box office, 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, A CinemaScore). That movie was originally intended to stream exclusively on Prime Video before the streamer opted to release the Nike Air Jordan dramedy in an initial theatrical window.

More from Deadline

Based on the book Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion by Anthony Robles and Austin Murphy, the movie follows Robles, who despite being born without a right leg and growing up in an abusive household rises to become a NCAA Division I champion wrestler, ultimately winning a national championship against the school that rejected him, national powerhouse Iowa. John Hindman adapted the book. The pic marks the feature directorial debut of Oscar-winning Argo editor Goldenberg.

Producers are Artists Equity’s Affleck and Damon; Nuyorican Productions’ Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas; Coonskin Cap’s David Crockett; A Really Good Home Pictures’ Andy Fraser; Gary Lewis; and Robles. EPs are Artists Equity’s Dani Bernfeld and Michael Joe; Kevin Halloran; and Jack Murray.

SAG ensemble winning Peña (American Hustle) is represented by Entertainment 360, CAA and Rick Genow of GGSSC. Two-time Emmy-winning Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire, Will & Grace) is represented by CAA and Framework Entertainment. Oscar-nominated Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda) is represented by UTA.

Unstoppable had stopped filming on May 31.
