Artist Terrance Osborne’s daughter, musician Indys Blu, to perform at Jazz Fest for first time

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The set up for Jazz Fest is underway, and we want to introduce you to Indys Blu, a new performer who’s no stranger to the creative arts.

Her dad is artist Terrance Osborne, and her mother is New Orleans ambassador and Meditation guide Stephanie Osborne with Meditate New Orleans.

WGNO’s Kenny Lopez talked to her as she prepares for her first Jazz Fest performance.

It is the right time for 21-year-old musician Indys Blu.

“It definitely has been a dream, I’ve always been with my dad Terrance Osborne selling his art while looking at people on stage,” she said.

Ever since she was a little girl, her dad’s been selling his art at Jazz Fest, even creating several official Jazz Fest posters like the Fats Domino one back in 2018.

“I love Jazz Fest. I have always loved Jazz Fest because of my dad,” she said.

Over the past year, she’s performed at Gentilly Fest, French Quarter Fest, Tipitina’s and House of Blues, but Jazz Fest has always been the ultimate dream.

“A lot of work, a lot of preparation, and I know it will be worth it,” Blu said.

Being a Jazz Fest newcomer, she knew she wanted to get it just right, so she took stage coaching.

“Work my way around stage and entertain like I should,” she said.

Indys Blu describes her music as R&B.

“A lot of people reference Erykah Badu,” she said.

She goes on to say, “I think ‘Marry Yo Mama’ is my most important song. A lot of women have been with mama’s boys and nobody really talks about it.”

But there’s one guy, one of her biggest fans who won’t miss his daughter’s shows.

“My parents will be there while I perform, they got someone else to run the artist booth,” she said.

Indys Blu performs this Sunday, April 28 on the Congo Stage at 11:15 a.m.
