Armie Hammer calls out Marvel chairman for supporting Trump

Over the last few days thousands of people have taken to social media to launch a boycott against fitness companies Equinox and SoulCycle after it was revealed that its owner Stephen Ross is going to host a fundraiser in the Hamptons, New York, for Donald Trump.

Armie Hammer has taken it upon himself to reveal another billionaire that has shown support for Trump, pointing out that Isaac Perlmutter, the current chairman of Marvel Entertainment, has contributed huge sums to the current president of the United States.

The Call Me By Your Name and Social Network actor, who hasn’t been cast in the MCU but was attached to play Batman, took to Twitter to write, “Hey, while everyone seems to be on this Equinox thing, it might be a good time to mention that one of Trump’s largest financial contributors is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment (Isaac Perlmutter) ... jussayin.”

Perlmutter previously donated $1 million to a Trump initiative, while he has also been referred to as a friend of the president and is even a Department of Veterans Affairs adviser.

He stopped working on the development of Marvel Studios’ output back in September, 2015, after Kevin Feige grew frustrated at having to collaborate with Perlmutter, who has been described as particularly eccentric.

But while some of these tales have been rather lighthearted, including the time Perlmutter attended the Iron Man 2 premiere in disguise, other accusations have been much more serious and problematic.

After his departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Financial Times alleged that when Perlmutter hired Don Cheadle to replace Terrence Howard in the Iron Man franchise at a cheaper rate he told Disney consumer products chairman Andy Mooney that no-one would notice because black people “look the same.”
